- i'm Talkathon
On Tuesday, June 24, Microsoft will be launching an integrated campaign in order to elevate the awareness of the iím Initiative, while providing a reason to increase iím conversations. The campaign centers around a fictitious, yet inspirational characterization of an avid supporter named Parker Whittle who is attempting to stay awake for 30 days, to non-stop e-mail and instant message. Hence, the Talkathon. Heís going to converse for a month. He wants the world to join him. And he wants to see how many people he can get to send messages using Windows Live Messenger and Windows Live Hotmail in order to support the iím Initiative cause partners.
The Parker Whittle character depicted in the iím Talkathon is fictitious, however, the funds raised by joining his mission to IM and email using Windows Live Messenger and Hotmail are very real. All funds raised during this campaign, and throughout the year, will be donated to 10 of the worldís most effective social cause organizations through the iím Initiative.
The project will involve producing an online blog with video content covering Parkerís attempt to set a world record for e-mailing and IMing for social causes. Videos will include blog entries, interviews (with activists, cause representatives, musicians, and/or celebrities), performances, sketches, and instructional clips. The footage would be edited into episodes that will be housed on Parkerís campaign blog page (http://imtalkathon.com) and woven into social networking sites (like Facebook) across the Internet to get people engaged in the iím Initiative.
People can join the iím Initiative at http://im.live.com and support the following cause organization: American Red Cross, Boys & Girls Clubs of America, the National AIDS Fund, National Multiple Sclerosis Society, ninemillion.org, Sierra Club, StopGlobalWarming.org, Susan G. Komen for the Cure, The Humane Society of the United States and U.S Fund for UNICEF.

- Every Monday Development Directors Tell it Like it Is
On Monday mornings, non-profit development directors receive no-nonsense insights into the heart of fundraising as told by other fundraising professionals via brief (5-6 minute) video clips.
When non-profit development directors open their e-mail on Monday mornings, they find the latest installment of "Movie Mondays," a free video series highlighting a specific fundraising issue like stress, grant writing and finding major donors.
Movie Mondays was developed by documentary award-winning producer/director Christopher Davenport of 501 Videos LLC. Christopher is currently interviewing experienced fundraising professionals for a documentary on non-profit development directors. To help other fundraisers benefit from the successes, tips and techniques Christopher is witnessing through the camera lens, he created Movie Mondays. Christopher tells his audience, "My goal with Movie Mondays is to give you a short movie that you can grab one or two ideas from...ideas that you can start using today." For more information about Movie Mondays go to: www.501videos.com/moviemondays.html.
Movie Mondays is fast becoming a favorite in the non-profit world. Sally Zelonis, CFRE, Major Gifts Officer for the Indianapolis Zoo, says, "I think it is a great way for this group of people to learn from others." "I am really loving the nuggets of information I am able to obtain and share and I thank you so much for them," reports Kathy Nicklaus of the Cancer Alliance of Naples, Inc. Ann Hyatt of Legal Services of the Hudson Valley writes, "Inspiration for a rough week ahead!"
