Get Organized NOW!
by Heidi Richards
“Just do a little each day… get ready, get set, get organized!”
Get Organized - Being organized gives us a sense of control, when you’re disorganized, you feel out of control. When you are organized, you are more able to concentrate on those things that really matter to you. When you are organized, you feel less stress. Getting organized means getting rid of clutter. It means setting up systems. What needs more organizing in your world right now?
Here are some tips to help you get and stay organized:
- De-clutter during your peak times. Are you a morning person, afternoon or night person? Organizing takes time and energy. The best time to de-clutter is when you are feeling the most energetic.
- Leave yourself messages. How many times have you arrived at the office or home with intentions to do something only to forget what it was you wanted to do?
- Enlist a clutter-cop – someone you can share your organizing goals with who will help you stay on track and on task.
- Open mail over the “round file” recycling bin or paper shredder.
- Get rid of the unused and unusable. If you haven’t used it in more than two years get rid of it. If it is old or outdated and you simply don’t like it, get rid of it.
- Memories are beautiful. Keep them in a memory box or two. When the boxes get full, pass the keepsake on to a friend, relative or loved-one who would also appreciate the memento.
- Make the most of each day. Get ready for the next day, the evening before. Lay out your clothes, make your lunch, have the coffee pot set on automatic so you can wake up to the aroma of your favorite blend wafting through your home.
- Multi-task. Exercise while watching television. Stretch while you are waiting for your computer to boot-up or download a file.
- Do a little each day. Work in chucks of 15 minutes at a time.
- Reward yourself. When you complete a project give yourself a reward.
